MUET Speaking Part 1: Build A Clear Individual Answer

MUET Speaking Part 1 is an individual presentation. The MPM specification gives you two minutes to prepare and two minutes to present. Build an answer around a clear point, a reason and a specific example, then explain how that example supports your point.

Use Preparation Time To Choose, Not Memorise

Read the audience, situation and the particular point you have been asked to discuss. A good answer about teamwork can still miss the task if your assigned point is practical skills.

Write a few connected notes: your main point, why it matters, one everyday situation and the result. Leave room to speak naturally rather than writing a speech you cannot finish reading.

  • Point: students learn to share responsibility.
  • Reason: one person cannot complete every project task.
  • Example: a class exhibition with separate research, design and speaking roles.
  • Result: students learn to depend on one another and meet a shared deadline.

An Original Worked Answer

Practice prompt: explain one benefit of taking part in student projects. This is an original learning example, not an MPM past-paper question.

Develop The Point

One important benefit of student projects is learning to share responsibility. In a group project, each student has a task that affects the others. For instance, when a class prepares an exhibition, one student may research the topic while another designs the display. If the research is late, the designer cannot finish. Students therefore have to keep one another informed and meet their deadlines. This makes teamwork a practical habit, not just an idea they hear about in class.

The answer moves from a claim to a concrete situation and then explains the consequence. The exhibition is illustrative; it is not a claim about a named school. This is an extract to develop, not a guaranteed-band answer or a complete two-minute script.

Improve The Connection Between Sentences

A list of sensible statements is not always a connected argument. If you say students must be responsible, explain what they are responsible for and what happens when they fulfil that responsibility.

Before And After

Before: Everybody has duties. There are deadlines. The project can go well.

After: Each student must complete their part on time because the whole group depends on it. When everyone meets their deadline, the project is more likely to succeed.

Keep the original idea, but name the task, show the cause and finish the thought. You do not need a complicated expression to make the reasoning stronger.

Record, Listen And Change One Thing

Record a timed answer. On playback, find the point at which a listener might ask why or how. Add the missing explanation, then record again without reading the first transcript.

For a delivery drill, lightly stress responsibility and depends on it. Pause after the example, and finish the final sentence decisively. This is suggested practice, not an assessment of your pronunciation.

Use TUTUR to practise the presentation and review coaching alongside your recording. Treat any practice band as an estimate, not an official MUET result.
